Most Reverend Timothy L. Doherty
Bishop of Lafayette-in-Indiana
Jesus calls each of us to love as He loves -- a love without conditions that transforms lives, starting with our own.
This love is a powerful force, but it requires that we actively choose to love. Jesus’ example challenges us to move beyond our comfort zones, to reach out to our brothers and sisters in need and see Him in every person we encounter.
For this reason, the theme of the 2025 annual Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA) is Called to Love.
It is because of the continued, generous support of parishioners like you that we can fund the good works and ministries of our diocese which are outside the scope of our pastorates.
The accompanying videos on this website will introduce you to our seminarian Jason Diebolt, Deacon Chuck Springer and the Graham’s, who are but a few of the countless lives that are being transformed thanks to your gifts to the CMA. Their stories illustrate how the ministries and programs supported by the appeal are a manifestation of Christ’s love at work in our world.
To nurture a growing spirit of love and generosity in our diocese, we are aiming for 100% participation. No gift amount is too small. Can I count on your commitment to support the mission of our diocese in 2025?
Please ask the Holy Spirit to guide you as you pray about how you are called to love through your financial gifts and intentional prayer for the 2025 CMA. Every gift is a testament to our collective commitment to love one another as Christ loves us.
Be assured of my continued prayers. May the Lord continue transforming our hearts to live out the love He has shown us in Christ through our thoughts, words and actions, as we go forth to serve every soul across our diocese.
Gratefully yours in Christ Jesus,
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
APPEAL PRAYER
Merciful and Loving God, You tell us in your Word “As I have loved you, so you also should love one another” (Jn 13:34).
By the power of your Holy Spirit, help us to love You above all, and grant us the grace and courage to live and love like Jesus, that we may show mercy, compassion, and kindness toward all.
As we participate in the Catholic Ministries Appeal to support Christ’s mission in the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana, grant us generous hearts that recognize all we have is a gift from God. May we share your gifts and your love with others in our thoughts, words, and actions.
With Mary and Joseph, we ask this through Christ our Lord.
AMEN
